“An example of African solutions to African problems. It doesn’t come better than this.” – @TonyOElumelu
April 8, 2016
“An example of African solutions to African problems. It doesn’t come better than this.” – @TonyOElumeluBrian, a Tony Elumelu Entrepreneur from last year who now runs DreamAfrica was in the audience and he was invited to share his experience as a part of the programme. His company’s mission is to increase publication of children’s literature by African authors. The Foundation via the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme has been supportive of his dream by giving him access to knowledge and training, seed capital, mentoring and networking. Brian’s short speech to all of us illustrated just how catalytic the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme truly is.I was deeply honoured to be invited to address these passionate young Africans; I call them the future of the world. Inaugural TED Residency selects Torin Perez of DreamAfrica
March 28, 2016
The TED Residency program is an incubator for breakthrough ideas. Our Lead Product Evangelist, Torin Perez, has been selected to be a resident in the new TED headquarters in New York City — an opportunity to work on DreamAfrica within the TED community and do a TED Talk to inspire the world! Here’s our idea worth spreading that made TED believe in us:We can live in a world where cultural curiosity, understanding and peace are the norms. For too long, a negative single story about Africa and Africans has dominated media outlets. By leveraging technology to bring the world DreamAfrica app, we aim to showcase and show how important it is for diverse stories to be heard and shared. DreamAfrica is growing to become a multimedia destination where entertaining and educational African stories can be explored from every country in Africa.
